The key to qualifying to do something new is to realize that you have qualified. Tests allow us to externalize this decision as someone else ultimately judges whether or not we’ve made it. Think about driving tests, or college admission as examples of this. But for most important life aspirations, there is no test or judge. If you’ve ever gone for a big role change at work or considered a major career shift then you’ve probably wrestled with this in the form of a paralysing question: “am I ready?”. Liberation involves setting this question aside in favour of acting on a better one: assuming I’m ready what’s my next move?
This post was inspired by a quote by Gandhi (1869 – 1948):
If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. … We need not wait to see what others do.
Have a great week!
